James Cook University Building 27
RCQ undertook a comprehensive reconfiguration and refurbishment of Building 27 to create a more vibrant campus heart by improving the sense of community on campus. Modern, flexible spaces were created to support the needs of academic and professional staff and to improve student experiences.
The new design incorporated interview rooms, meeting rooms and interaction rooms with kitchen facilities.
The ground floor comprises computer help desks, a tax clinic, trading room and learning spaces including student indoor and outdoor collaboration areas and Peer to Peer spaces. The remaining 3 levels include staff spaces with state-of-the-art video and audio-visual services.
The refurbishment incorporated a high level of diversity of aesthetically appealing work settings and neighbourhoods, with the flexibility for individuals and teams to move around the office environment. The modern technology enables a functional workplace and contemporary learning environment.
